Xiaomi promoted Manu Kumar Jain as its new Vice President | Chinese Mobile Giant Xiaomi has elevated Manu Kumar Jain (previously its India Lead), to global role as VP (Vice President). After spending three and a half year, Ex-VP Hugo Barra exit from Xiaomi to return to the Silicon Valley and lead Facebook’s virtual-reality efforts, including the Oculus VR.

Mi India(the official Xiaomi India Tweeter handle) tweeted, “@manukumarjain, congratulations from the entire Xiaomi family on your promotion to Vice President of Xiaomi!”. He will also be the Managing Director, Xiaomi India. He replied, “Thank You my phenomenal @xiaomi @XiaomiIndia family! I am so glad I got the opportunity to work with the best team on the planet.”He joined the company as the India head in May 2014.
As per the records of fourth quarterfrom research firm IDC, with growth of 15 % and 10 % market share, Xiaomi is the 2nd largest mobile vendor in India. As per IDC, Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S mobile phone helped in boosting sales for the company.Last week, Xiaomi said that the company has plans to jack up the offline distribution channels in the country and also targeting 25% of its turnover from the same segment.
Though Manu Kumar Jain led Xiaomi India, but it was Hugo Barra who was the Xiaomi’s face at various events, and his announcement about his exit from company was seen as a huge blow to the prospects of company in international markets.
